How to learn TM
Our Transcendental Meditation courses are taught by me, Mike Sampey and one thing I’ve learnt in a teaching career lasting almost four decades is that the traditional way is the best way! I trained as a TM teacher in 1990 with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s TM organisation. TM teacher training is very thorough and one of the most important things a teacher learns is how to protect the purity and effectiveness of the teaching.
Transcendental Meditation itself is very simple but it’s also very specific. I take great care in preparation for courses both with teaching materials and the teaching rooms. Each student is very important and experience has shown me that if we have the best possible start to each student’s TM practice, then it gives the best results long-term. For this reason, I try to pass the technique on in person.
Ideally, you come for your first session face-to-face, meditate with me in person and take away some simple instructions to continue at home. If you can attend the Sunday sessions in Sussex in person, all the better, you’re very welcome; if not, a hybrid course with carefully structured Zoom sessions for the next three meetings are arranged.
I taught many hundreds of people TM before the internet, mobile phones and Zoom were invented so I know first-hand how productive and enjoyable teaching face-to-face in person is. Where possible, I like to continue this way. All students are welcome to learn in my home in West Sussex or a beautiful teaching venue I use in Hove, East Sussex.
Should this not be possible, I’ll do everything I can to help you start your TM journey or, at the very least, tell you more about Transcendental Meditation and answer any questions you may have.
